Richland One Needs Assessment Parent Survey
Beginning November 19, Richland One is asking that parents of students in grades 8-12 complete an on-line survey as part of our needs assessment. Improving our middle and high schools is the focus of Richland One ’s school reform efforts through Making Middle Grades Work and High Schools that Work. Career development and preparation is a key component of an effective school system. The survey is available as a link on middle and high schools web pages and on the district web page. Hard copies of the survey will be available at each middle and high school’s main office. Parents are asked to complete the survey by December 18.
Each district is required to complete a comprehensive needs assessment every five years for submission to the South Carolina Department of Education. The needs assessment requires the school district to gather information from students, parents, school staff, and business/community stakeholders as well as to compile information about forecasts of career demands in the county, state and region. Richland One is committed to processes of continuous improvement so this survey and your input is critical to effective planning and decision making for our future success.
In Richland One, career development and preparation are offered at each middle and high school and at Heyward Career and Technology Center. The survey you are asked to complete will gather information about career interests, access to career preparation classes and how we may improve opportunities and experiences for each student as he or she prepares for higher education and careers after high school graduation. Please answer each question choosing the best answer available. All responses are anonymous. Completion of the survey should take approximately 10 minutes.
